The building of Blair Castle commenced in 1269, under the instruction of John I Comyn, Lord of Badenoch, a northern acquaintance of the Earl of Atholl. The Earl was away from home, fighting in the Crusade’s, when John I Comyn began the construction of the castle on his land. Upon his return, the Earl complained bitterly to the Scottish King, King Alexander III about the interloper, and his lands were returned. Rather than pulling down the tower than John I Comyn had built, the Earl decided to merge the tower into his own castle. A Great Hall and a series of vaulted chambers were incorporated into the castle over the centuries, by  subsequent Earls. It was the second Duke of Atholl who, in 1740, decided to remodel the castle as a Georgian Mansion.

Easy Villa Rentals While Dealing With the Owner Themselves

Renting villas is a great idea to meet your accommodation needs when on a holiday. The internet and travel agents are the best people to approach for help in renting villas.Renting from owners however, proves to be a better option than considering the villas you find on the internet and through travel agents.

By renting villas directly from owners, your agreement and rental terms become more comfortable. In fact, by renting from owners, you can usually experience a reduction in the rates and prices you pay. This is because there is no need to pay fees to the travel agent, and often, some taxes are eliminated.Don’t forget to bargain with the prices with the owner though and you could reach a rate that is amicable to both of.

As direct rental from the owner leads to fewer guests for them to take care of, any problems and doubts you have will be immediately taken care of by the owner. All changes that you want to be made to the villa like the addition and removal of furniture, can immediately be taken care of by the owner.

The owner will also work at making your stay in the villa more comfortable and convenient. All you have to do is to tell the owner that you want extra requirements, such as a washing machine, and it will be promptly taken care of.With a washing machine in the villa, you can save money by doing all your laundry on your own.

There are sure to be some things in the villa rental that you won’t be using during your stay here; request to have them removed, and you may be able to have your rent for the villa reduced. It is not possible to have your furniture removed and added in a hotel, for example, as all furniture is prearranged and are part and parcel of the room rent. Renting villas from owners thus give you a means of saving money.

Villas or Hotels – Which Are the Better

The enjoyment of your holiday is very much dependant on your choice of the right accommodation for your trip. Many people find it difficult to decide between staying in a villa and hotel because of the advantage these two types of accommodation offer the holiday maker. However, when the two are compared, it is usually the villa that comes out to be the better option for a holiday.

Villas have the cost advantage as they are much cheaper than hotels. Room rates have been increasing lately because of the increased demand for hotel rooms.Basically, if you are travelling as a family or group, and plan to have a long holiday, villas prove to be a better option for you.Groups tend to enjoy their holidays in villas because they are comfortable, large and spacious.

The longer you stay in villas, the better the chance of your getting a discount for staying here.It is the location of the villa, its room sizes and the services found here that decide the cost of the accommodation and the amount you stand to save from villas;  which is usually cheaper than a hotel.

In addition to this quality of the villa, it is its desirability and its amenities which determine the cost of the villa. If you opt for self catering villas, you save on your food expenses. As you can cook and feed kids when they are hungry in self catering villas, instead of waiting for room service, most families prefer this holiday accommodation option over hotels.

You get more privacy in villas as they are usually located away from the chaos of resort life. With the availability of modern day amenities like phone, security, heaters and internet and data access, families are generally much more comfortable in villas.

It is therefore known that families, groups of people and those seeking privacy on long trips prefer staying in villas over hotels.

Travelling with the Kids – Choose the Best Hotel

Travelling with an infant or toddler can be rather tedious as you have to be particular about your choice of food, travel and of course, accommodation. You can’t just check into the first hotel you come across. Only after some thinking, and with the help of these tips will you be able to choose the right hotel.

1. Choose hotels that are centrally located where essential stores and pharmacies are located nearby. This is because children tend to fall ill unexpectedly and throw tantrums whenever they feel like it. But by staying in a centrally located hotel, you will definitely enjoy your holiday or break much better.

2. The hotel you choose should have restaurants and fast food outlets you can visit for dinner nearby. This is to make it easier for you to carry your child home if they fall asleep during dinner, or to bring down the favourite toy they may have forgotten.

3. Children need their space and will definitely miss their bed or cot; so choose hotels with large rooms. Baby’s are more comfortable sleeping on a sofa or table in the room (if they are still in a carry-cot), while you get your bit of privacy.

4. As you will have to repeatedly prepare formulas or meals for your baby or children, choose hotel rooms with sufficient space, especially if you are on a long holiday. It would be better if there was a small kitchen area where you can stock up on your baby/child essentials.

5. Of course, choose hotels with nanny and quality child care services so that you have some time to relax while on holiday. It is definitely worth paying the extra fees.

With all these points in mind, you will find it much easier and faster to choose the right hotels when travelling with infants and toddlers, therefore making your life so much more easier.
