Be Ready for Your Upcoming Cruise

Taking your first cruise is a thrilling prospect, and it’s a good idea to take in a few tips to make the most of your experience. First-timers sometimes don’t know what to expect on a cruise, so learning a few handy tricks can help everything go a little smoother. Consider the following cruise tips, and keep them in mind as you begin your cruising adventure.

A few things could take you by surprise. For instance, it’s a great idea to pack a small travel alarm clock, since some ships do not have them in the room standard. Even if you’re going to a toasty tropical locale, bring along a warm sweater or cardigan to wear over your clothes when you are cold. You may find that the air conditioning is blowing too much for your tastes, and you’ll save yourself the inconvenience of buying one after you board. Don’t forget your photo ID and travel documents, of course!

It’s a good idea to bring a carry-on bag with you when you leave, with enough items to get you through your first day on the ship. You’re not the only one boarding the ship, of course, and there may be some delay in getting your baggage to your room. Grab your swimsuit and put it in there, as well, so there’s no delay if you want to take a dip. Don’t head right to the ship’s shops, though it is a tempting attraction. Window shop if you must, but be patient before spending money. Often there are sales and discounts that only begin after a few days.

Some ships allow you to bring your own beverages on board (non-alcoholic), so check with your cruise line. Don’t be surprised if you see experienced cruisers wheeling a few 12-packs of Coke along to their rooms! You can save a lot of money by bringing your own soft drinks, instead of paying the premium price they tend to charge on board ships.

So now you have some quick tips to make your cruise as great as possible. Bon voyage!

Some real SHIP films

There are so many films that have been made on cruise ships and of course many were just filmed on sets. Here are just some of the ones out there that I would recommend you watch before you go on a luxury cruises

Titanic

This has to be the biggest film that is based on a ship. A huge amount of money was made from this film, .8 Billion. 0 million is how much the film cost to make, which in turn made it the highest costing film for that time. The film is based around a fictional love story set on the titanic. However a few characters in the film are based on the real life people.

Speed 2- Cruise control

It was given very poor reviews partly because of the fact many people didnt return to the sequel. Keanu Reeves didnt return to the film as he thought that the script was very poor. Dennis Hopper also felt that the first one was enough. Sadly, this shows as the film is terrible as a whole. You have to watch this film because it has such a good ending.

The comedy favourite – Carry On Cruising

This is just one the films in the massive collection that is the Carry On series. This is actually the first of the Carry On films to be filmed in colour and is the sixth in the series. It is on the list simply because it is my favourite film in the entire series and needed to be here because the whole of the film is set on a cruise ship.

So whether you are on your way to one of those cunard cruises or even a Silversea cruises make sure you check out these films first. Thinking about it, these films all spell diaster for cruise ships but do not worry as they are just movies right?

Crusing seems to be on the increase

Even in the depression it would seem that some businesses are doing really well and luxury cruise certainly seems to be one of them.

How on earth has cruising holidays seen a 5% increase this year? By no means is going on a decent cruise cheap, how on earth are people finding the money to go on such cruises?

Saving is certainly a big factor. Why do people save up to go on a cruise.

A major reason is the ship has so many things to do that you can almost fit several other holidays within it. It has brilliant fitness facilities, swimming pools, fine dining and many other things on offer including dinner shows. To fit this all under one roof is simply astounding. Could the depression change next years figure?

Well it would seem so with another massive increase next year set to come in at 6.5%. Could it be something to do with the brand new ships out next year. The prices of cruises are not as bad as they used to be. Take your pick as there are so many different package deals out there now. There seem to be more companies offering cruises every year which means the prices are sure to go down even further. So now is the time to look for a cruise holiday, they are also very relaxing as you are free to do whatever you want, check out the pool, hit the gym or just relax in your cabin.

Of course the percentage increase is just estimation and we might not see as many people taking river cruises as well as cunard cruises like we first thought, however all we can really do is wait it out.

A similar cruise to Titanic

2012 is of course going to be the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic sinking. A trans-Atlantic cruise is being set up in rememberance of the sinking.

8th April 2012 is the date that the ship is departing as it is exaclty 100 years since the Titanic set sail. Just like the Titanic the port in which the vessal will be departing from is Southampton. Because the company wishes to make the trip realsitc they are going to be stopping in Ireland like the orginal.

The trip will make a stop at 11.40 in the location where the Titanic first hit the iceburg. 2am is around the time the ship will carry on with its journey to New York.20am which was when the ship was fully under water.

During these hours the ship will actually have a memorial service to remember the awful accident that occured here. There is going to be food from the time as well as historic lectures on board.

The ship is going to have a lot of cabins to contain 1,350 passengers as well as 150 crew members. Although this is the best gift for a history lover this isnt going to come cheap. This is truly going to be the luxury cruises of a life time.

Of course most of the cheaper cabins for the price above have already sold out so perhaps if you are interested in taking a cruise you should think about taking another cruise like one of those Rhine River Cruises or perhaps Silversea cruises would be a better move to make.
