Which Hotel is Rated in What Way
Hotels are rated with the main intention of helping patrons know what they can expect from them. Different countries have slight differences in their hotel rating systems. There have been attempts at making an international hotel rating system, without success.
Wherever you may be, once you understand the hotel rating in one country, you will be able to know what to expect from other hotels, as their hotel rating differences are minimal.
The lowest rating in the hotel rating system is one star while five stars is the highest.Hotels with two or four stories which are under single owner proprietorship are one star hotels. One star hotels are clean and simple but usually have no restaurant, but otherwise good snack options are available.
One star hotels are similar to two star hotels, which are usually part of a hotel chain. Two star and one star hotels have similar furnishing; the only difference is that two star hotels have televisions in some or all of the rooms. At times, you may find limited dining facilities attached without any room services.
First class hotels can start with three stars. Three star hotels have attached dining services, are found near tourist attractions, are elaborately furnished and are usually part of a large hotel chain.
Most four star hotels have bell hop, room and valet services and are superior and well furnished. Four star hotels are found near to other similar hotels and usually have a fitness centre and a swimming pools. Four star hotels offer a wide selection on their menus for dining and room service.
Five star hotels are deluxe hotels with large lobbies, round the clock room service and large rooms. You also find pools, various dining choices and entertainment in these hotels.
Although there are six and seven star claimed hotels overseas, these are expensive and fancy hotels that are a part of an advertisement ploy.
Once you understand this hotel rating system, you will find it easier to choose hotels when you go on a holiday.

Do Only Unhappy People Visit Holiday Review Sites
Recently I have been looking at booking my summer holidays earlier than usual due to the economic downturn. By booking early you are more likely to get a better deal going for yourself.
What a lot of people also do these days is book there holidays online; you can choose a variety of custom packages online as well as getting a nice discount. As online holidays expanded, a lot of review sites became avaliable which allowed viewers to express there views on hotels. So can you seriously take these types of sites too seriously?
The reason for saying this is because every hotel I typed in had a negative review, whether or not it had hundreds of positives there was also double in negatives. That made me start thinking about why every hotel would have a negative review and I ultimately came to some conclusions:
1) You are more likely to go online and express your opinion if you have had a bad time rather than a good one.
2) There are a lot of negative reviews especially when people visit cultures that they are not used to.
3) Alot of the complaints are about beverage and edibles, you have to be prepared to have different meals and watered down drinks.
So finalising everything I have basically come to the conclusion that a lot of people are just miserable. If you are booking an all inclusive holidays then expect things to be slightly lower quality and repetitive food. People want to go on holiday to relax not to read about people's complaints about nothing.
